5 Day FDP on Industry-Academia Perspectives on Blockchain

December 7, 2026 - December 11, 2026

Venue

SRM University-AP

Organizer

Department of Computer Science and Engineering

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at SRM University-AP is organising a five-day Faculty Development Programme titled “Industry-Academia Perspectives on Blockchain: From Fundamentals and Enterprise Applications to Intelligent Systems and Emerging Trends”. Scheduled to run from December 7-11, 2026, the programme will operate in a hybrid format, combining in-person sessions on campus with virtual attendance for remote participants.

Distributed ledger technology has expanded far beyond its early association with cryptocurrency, establishing a foundation for verifiable, decentralized digital operations. Modern applications now span enterprise management, financial platforms, supply chain operations, healthcare records, agricultural tracking, intelligent transport networks, cybersecurity protocols, and digital identity systems. As distributed architectures increasingly intersect with artificial intelligence, internet of things networks, and cyber-physical systems, academic institutions face a growing need to update research methodologies and classroom teaching to match these technological developments.

This training initiative focuses on connecting academic theory with practical industrial requirements. Across five days of technical sessions, subject matter experts will explain core architectural components, cryptographic foundations, and the working mechanics of decentralized networks. Participants will examine enterprise implementations such as Hyperledger Fabric, explore smart contract development, and analyse the evolution of consensus algorithms along with their computational trade-offs. Additional sessions will address performance optimisation strategies for intelligent systems and evaluate specialized use cases in agricultural supply chains and domain-specific tracking systems.

Lectures and interactive sessions will be delivered by researchers and specialists drawn from Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology, and technical software companies. The programme aims to help participants identify current research challenges, refine laboratory coursework, and design new project-based learning modules for undergraduate and postgraduate students. By encouraging cross-institutional networks, the university seeks to support joint research publications, patent applications, interdisciplinary consultancy projects, and grant proposals submitted to funding agencies.

Key Objectives

  • Examine core principles, architectural components, and the evolution of consensus mechanisms in decentralized networks.
  • Analyse enterprise blockchain implementations, focusing on Hyperledger Fabric and real-world case studies.
  • Address security protocols, smart contract execution, and optimization strategies for blockchain-enabled intelligent systems.
  • Review sector-specific applications in agriculture, supply chain traceability, and intelligent transportation.
  • Support academic research output, interdisciplinary project proposals, patent filings, and industry-academia networking.
