The Office of the Dean Research at SRM University-AP, Amaravati is organising the “Fire Safety and Lab Safety Workshop: Awareness Program for New Researchers, PhD Students, Post Doctoral Students”. Scheduled for Thursday, 19 November 2026, the day-long training combines indoor technical presentations in the Tiered Classroom of Homi J Bhabha Block with outdoor practical demonstrations at the Tree Court area. The initiative is designed to improve hazard identification, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance across campus research facilities.
The workshop addresses critical laboratory risk management and emergency response protocols for over 100 anticipated participants, including early-career researchers, doctoral scholars, postdoctoral fellows, and operational personnel from the Security, Safety, Housekeeping, and Operation & Maintenance departments. Technical sessions cover fire classifications, alarm operations, pump mechanics, and evacuation procedures, culminating in a live fire mock drill. Specialized laboratory safety presentations cover biosafety protocols, chemical handling, electronics and optics safety, and general laboratory safety frameworks.
