Abstract

While platform-driven delivery services have expanded India’s gig economy and created widespread employment, they have also highlighted critical challenges regarding worker safety, income stability, and algorithmic control. This study investigates the operational and labour issues faced by delivery workers, focusing on transparency and well-being. Employing a scoping review, bibliometric mapping, and quantitative surveys, the research analyses dominant academic themes along with worker perceptions on earnings and working hours. Furthermore, qualitative data gathered from semi-structured interviews with last-mile delivery personnel highlights key pain points and potential mental health impacts to inform future policy interventions.
