SUMMARY:Upping our A-game with NITTTR Chennai and SRM faculties
DESCRIPTION:The Faculty and Academic Affairs unit is hosting a Faculty Development Program (FDP)\, an initiative of the SRM University-AP Teaching Learning Centre (TLC)\, which was inaugurated on October 25\, 2021\, at 2:45 pm by Prof. V S Rao\, our esteemed Vice-Chancellor who graced the event as the Chief Guest and the revered Prof. Usha Natesan\, Director\, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chennai as the Guest of Honour in the occasion. \nThis FDP will be an opportunity to nurture the finest traits that our faculty members have to offer by inviting five faculty members from NITTTR Chennai. Dr G. Janardhanan (Course coordinator)\, Dr P. Malliga\, Dr S. Renukadevi\, Dr V. Shanmuganeethi\, and Dr E. S. M. Suresh from NITTTR Chennai; Dr Balgauruprasad Narayanan (Course Coordinator)\, and Dr Anupama Ghattu from Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) SRM University-AP\, and Dr Rajeev Sukumaran from the Centre for Applied Research (CARE)\, SRMIST will be the resource persons for this event. \nNITTTR Chennai is a Ministry of Education\, Government of India-funded institution. The SWAYAM-MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) courses offered by NITTTR have become very popular among the teachers’ community as easy-to-access resources. \nThe entire FDP will be conducted in four batches and over 170 faculty members of SRM University will participate in it to learn about the latest developments in pedagogical methods and their incorporation in the classroom setting. The events for the first batch will continue from October 25\, 2021\, till November 6\, 2021\, from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm every day coming up to a total of 10 sessions. \nThis Faculty Development Program jointly designed by NITTTR Chennai and SRM University-AP will give our educators the essential tools needed to make every classroom experience an unrivalled growing opportunity for the students. We urge our faculty members to make the most of this event from October 25\, 2021\, onwards.

SUMMARY:Prof S Chandrasekhar to deliver a talk during University Distinguished Lecture 04
DESCRIPTION:The fourth edition of the University Distinguished Lecture organized by SRM University-AP\, Andhra Pradesh will be delivered by Prof S Chandrasekhar\, Director\, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology\, Hyderabad. On November 21\, 2020\, at 3 PM\, the session on “Saga of Science from 13th Century to 21st Century” will be steered by the esteemed academician. Prof S Chandrasekhar joined CSIR-IICT as Scientist C and became the director in 2015. He has made significant contributions in diverse areas of organic chemistry with a special emphasis on chiral chemistry\, total synthesis of biologically active natural products and pharmaceutical products. Further\, he has received several accolades including the Eminent Scientist Award for contributions in the field of Chemistry from Telangana State Government in 2017\, CNR Rao National Prize for Chemical Research 2012\, CSIR Technology award 2014\, and Infosys prize in Chemical sciences 2014 for his contributions to synthetic organic chemistry. \n\n\nProf S Chandrasekhar has developed technologies for the synthesis of the latest anti-tuberculosis drug\, bedaquiline; anti-tumor and abortive drug\, misoprostol; anti-platelet molecule\, beraprost; antidepressive compound\, sertralin and drug for treatment of schizophrenia\, asenapine. During his lecture\, Prof S Chandrasekhar will frame a narrative of the knowledge explosion in terms of science and technology from the 13th to 21st century. Providing a historical perspective\, he will describe the evolution of the technology base and the transformation of production and service activities. \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Department of Student Affairs organize a session with budding entrepreneurs
DESCRIPTION:Department of Student Affairs\, SRM University-AP\, Andhra Pradesh organizes yet another chapter of Newsmakers. On November 21\, 2020\, at 5 PM\, Sourav Sanyal\, Miran Junaidi\, and Saurabh Ghanekar\, 4th year\, Department of Computer Science and Engineering will be narrating their tale of forming a start-up named oureye.ai. The young entrepreneurs developed an automated\, end-to-end video intelligence solution for enterprises to monitor surveillance camera recordings\, leveraging pre-existing CCTV-IP infrastructure. \nThe three brilliant students grabbed the opportunities provided by SRM AP and became an active member of the student-run technological club of SRM AP\, Next Tech Lab. Further\, they spent a semester at the University of California\, Berkeley as part of the Semester Abroad Programme to broaden their horizon of knowledge. Encouraged by the mentors and faculty\, the students participated in several international conferences and hackathons which kindled their interest in developing a platform that would provide practical solutions to real-life problems. \nDuring the session\, the students will share insights regarding their start-up. Also\, they will narrate the inspiring journey that commenced with their erudite experience at SRM AP\, which eventually enabled them to become young entrepreneurs. Their company generated a revenue of Rs. 1.7 million in the recent financial year.

SUMMARY:Why India needs innovation and leadership?
DESCRIPTION:To nurture and cultivate innovation\, there are no best-practice solutions. The structures and processes that many leaders employ instinctively to foster it are vital but insufficient. The Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at SRM University-AP is organising an influential session by Jyothsna Yerramsetti\, CEO & Co-Founder- IUThink\, on November 10\, 2021\, at 6.00 pm to promote and integrate innovative leadership among students. All participants will be given various gifts and certificates and participation. \nIUThink is an organisation with a vision to provide a platform for grassroots\, student and rural Innovators. It focuses on connecting students\, innovators\, startups and entrepreneurs to mentors\, investors and creates opportunities to network with successful entrepreneurs. IUThink organises Startup/Innovation Summits where innovators and startups get a chance to exhibit their ideas and also provides entrepreneurial functionality support for college incubations. The main objective of IUThink is to create a proper Start-up Ecosystem to connect all the startups/entrepreneurs. In 2019-2021 it organised 3 innovation summits and connected 5000+ students/innovators/startups/ entrepreneurs and created a huge impact by organising awareness programmes. \nAbout the Speaker: \nJyothsna Yerramsetti\, CEO & Co-Founder- IUThink completed Graduation in Information Technology 2013. She worked as a software engineer for 5 years in one of the big MNCs at Hyderabad and established her startup company “IUThink” in 2018 August along with Cofounder Divya Kalikota. IUThink encourages startups\, entrepreneurs and innovators. She is a recipient of the “Outstanding Educator” by South India Women Achievers Award (SIWAA) in Chennai and was recognised as “Young Leader” by Niti Manthan\, New Delhi. \nUnlock the innovator inside you with SRM E-Cell\, grabbing gifts and certificates!
