SUMMARY:Upping our A-game with NITTTR Chennai and SRM faculties
DESCRIPTION:The Faculty and Academic Affairs unit is hosting a Faculty Development Program (FDP)\, an initiative of the SRM University-AP Teaching Learning Centre (TLC)\, which was inaugurated on October 25\, 2021\, at 2:45 pm by Prof. V S Rao\, our esteemed Vice-Chancellor who graced the event as the Chief Guest and the revered Prof. Usha Natesan\, Director\, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chennai as the Guest of Honour in the occasion. \nThis FDP will be an opportunity to nurture the finest traits that our faculty members have to offer by inviting five faculty members from NITTTR Chennai. Dr G. Janardhanan (Course coordinator)\, Dr P. Malliga\, Dr S. Renukadevi\, Dr V. Shanmuganeethi\, and Dr E. S. M. Suresh from NITTTR Chennai; Dr Balgauruprasad Narayanan (Course Coordinator)\, and Dr Anupama Ghattu from Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) SRM University-AP\, and Dr Rajeev Sukumaran from the Centre for Applied Research (CARE)\, SRMIST will be the resource persons for this event. \nNITTTR Chennai is a Ministry of Education\, Government of India-funded institution. The SWAYAM-MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) courses offered by NITTTR have become very popular among the teachers’ community as easy-to-access resources. \nThe entire FDP will be conducted in four batches and over 170 faculty members of SRM University will participate in it to learn about the latest developments in pedagogical methods and their incorporation in the classroom setting. The events for the first batch will continue from October 25\, 2021\, till November 6\, 2021\, from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm every day coming up to a total of 10 sessions. \nThis Faculty Development Program jointly designed by NITTTR Chennai and SRM University-AP will give our educators the essential tools needed to make every classroom experience an unrivalled growing opportunity for the students. We urge our faculty members to make the most of this event from October 25\, 2021\, onwards.

He is the founder and the President of Lok Satta Party and is a former Member of the Legislative Assembly\, Andhra Pradesh. SUMMARY:On the issues in grid-connected PV system
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at SRM University-AP is organising an invited lecture in collaboration with the technical society Automatic Control & Dynamic Optimization Society (ACDOS) on August 28\, 2021. Prof. Sukumar Mishra from IIT Delhi will speak on the topic of “Issues in grid-connected PV system” at 11.00 am on that day via zoom. Vice-Chancellor of SRM University-AP Prof Vajja Sambasiva Rao\, Associate Deans and Faculty members of the EEE department will be the panellists of the event. \nAutomatic Control & Dynamic Optimization Society (ACDOS) was established in the year 2011 with a noble objective to promote automatic control and dynamic optimisation discipline in academia and industry across India. The society aims to host international conferences and technical workshops regularly in order to promote close interaction between industry and academia. The society also participates in curriculum development for graduate and undergraduate studies in addition to facilitating productive research in this field. The society volunteers to honour eminent persons who excelled in this field in industry and academic circles. \nAbout the speaker: \nDr Sukumar Mishra received his M.Tech and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology\, Rourkela in 1992 and 2000 respectively. Presently\, Dr Mishra is a Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and has been its part for the past 17 years. Prof Mishra has won many accolades throughout his academic tenure of 27 years. He has been a recipient of the Young Scientist award (1999) by Orissa Bigyan Academy\, INSA medal for the young scientist (2002)\, INAE young engineer award (2002) and INAE silver jubilee young engineer award (2012). He has been selected as Mission Innovation National Champion (2019) under the Mission innovation initiative to accelerate clean energy in India. He has also been recognized as the INAE Industry-Academic Distinguish Professor. Apart from all research and academic collaborations\, Prof Mishra is very actively involved in industrial collaborations. Prof Mishra is currently acting as ABB Chair professor and has previously delegated as the NTPC\, INAE and power grid chair professor.\nProf. Mishra’s research expertise lies in the field of Power Systems\, Power Quality Studies\, Renewable Energy and Smart Grid. Also\, he has been functioning as Associate Dean R&D of IIT Delhi since March 2020. Prof Mishra has so far authored more than 70 IEEE Transactions/Journals\, 30 IET Journals and 30 other international journal papers. Prof. Mishra has been working in close association with IEEE Delhi Section Executive Committee for the past few years and is currently serving as an Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid\, IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy and was an Area Editor for the IET Generation\, Transmission & Distribution journal. \nJoin this engaging webinar on August 28\, 2021\, to know more about the issues in grid-connected PV systems.

SUMMARY:A Career in Digital Design
DESCRIPTION:The AAD Club\, under the Directorate of Student Affairs\, organised an online session to educate students about the basics of digital design on August 28\, 2021.  Mr Vignesh Reddipalli\, an Engineering Graduate with a passion for Digital design and over 9 years of experience as a Freelance Visualizer\, conducted the session. Mr Vignesh delivered an insightful session on developing designs about designs and was briefed about their basics. The event was held to help students gain a grasp of the subject and to give an idea of how freelancing works from the experience of the chief guest.  \nMr Vignesh has also worked as a Visual Designer for brands and advertising start-ups. He currently works at Kumaraguru Institutions and specialises in Identity creation and UI/UX for web applications and mobile apps.

SUMMARY:Introduction to AI/ML with Python
DESCRIPTION:The research scholars from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering with the support and guidance of the faculty are initiating a Research Scholar’s Talk Series titled My Scholar’s Voice (MSV). The first session in the series will be held on August 28\, 2021. Ms Vineela Chandra D will engage the participants from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with her enlightening talk on Introduction to AI/ML with Python. \nThe objective of the program is to project the expertise of the researcher from their domain to motivate the undergraduate/postgraduate students and fellow researchers. In addition\, one can get familiarized with the research going on in different areas in the ECE department. This will surely develop an interest in research apart from academics. The programme will be beneficial for the presenter as well as the participants as it will help to build up a strong research network where they can continue collaborative research. \nAbout the Speaker:\nMs Vineela Chandra D is pursuing her PhD under the guidance of Dr Karthikeyan E (Department of ECE\, SRM University-AP). She had received her B.Tech degree in ECE from Amritha Vishwa Vidyapeetham\, Coimbatore (2015). She then joined Robert Bosch Engineering and Business solutions ltd\, Coimbatore as an Associate Network Engineer (2015-2017). She received her MTech degree in Embedded systems from KL University (2017-2019). Dr Rajendra Joshi\, Chairman of RI Group\, will deliver a lecture on the topic “Cost-effective high-end research instrumentation and materials in India”. \nIndigenous development of upper end scientific analytical instruments in India has always been a big challenge. RI Instruments & Innovation India has proved that with cohesive teamwork\, this is very much possible. The group has designed Raman Spectrometer\, RIUS (Universal Spectroscopy)\, RIMS (Modular spectroscopic work station) XRD\, TEM (Under Trial)\, Class AAA Solar simulator\, the world’s smallest USB microscope and a few more. \nAbout the speaker: \nDr Rajendra Joshi is the recipient of the National Innovation Award for the year 2019 by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizer\, Govt. of India for the innovation of Graphene Oxide / Li based rechargeable batteries with replaceable electrodes. As an Instrumentation Professional and Material’s Physicist\, he started his career at National Physical Laboratory\, New Delhi in the year 1997 – 1998. He has certification in Quality Control/R&D Professional training from Japan\, Germany\, France\, Italy and UK.
