SUMMARY:The Narasimhan Seshadri Theorem and Some of its Ramifications
DESCRIPTION:Abstract:The Narasimhan-Seshadri Theorem is one of the spectacular theorems from India in the past 50 years or so. The theorem is more than a deep result but is in a way a philosophy or correspondences and symmetries. The theorem has had an impact on several aspects of mathematics. The theorem has also led to developments along lines that are similar but by themselves are also deep and central. Since the talk is for a general audience\, I plan to give an overview of the theorem\, a few of its big impacts on topology and geometry\, and a few of its ramifications in terms of generalizations.

Every innovation\, be it in the field of technology\, medicine\, or entrepreneurship\, has paved the way for colossal changes simplifying life on earth. The sheer ability to think and innovate is what made human beings the ruling power. All the amenities and services that we revel in today would not have come into existence without the power to innovate. \nAs the world is surging ahead with far-reaching developments at an unimaginable pace\, there is no question about equipping society to embrace these changes and equally be an unflinching source instigating such changes. Learning in the present era is beyond the ability to read\, write and pass with flying colours. True learning does not take place without igniting the spark of creativity hidden inside every individual.
