SUMMARY:Workshop on IP Creation and Technology Transfer
DESCRIPTION:The Technology Transfer Cell organises a one-day workshop on “Intellectual Property Creation and Technology Transfer” on February 05\, 2026. The workshop provides an integrated overview of intellectual property creation and technology transfer in academic research. It covers patentability\, novelty\, inventive steps\, and patent drafting\, followed by practical insights into technology valuation\, licensing\, and industry engagement. \nThe workshop will have two sessions. The first session will be held by Registered Indian Patent Agents and Trademark Agents – Mr Amit Sudarsan\, Director\, Videaim IP Pvt.\, Ltd.\, and\, Walnut IP Pvt.\, Ltd. and Dr Madhavi Muppirala\, Director\, Videaim IP Pvt.\, Ltd.\, and Walnut IP Pvt.\, Ltd. They will elaborate on the topic – “From Idea to Invention: Understanding Novelty\, Inventive Step\, and Patent Drafting”. \nThe second session will be delivered by Prof. G S VinodKumar\, Associate Dean-Technology Transfer Cell\, SRM University-AP\, on the topic – “Technology Transfer Pathways: Valuation\, Licensing\, and Industry Engagement”. \nThe workshop aims to equip faculty members and research scholars with the knowledge required to translate innovations from the laboratory to real-world impact.

SUMMARY:Chemistry Guest Lecture on O-Alkynyl-Nitriles
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Chemistry is organising a Guest Lecture on the topic “O-Alkynyl-Nitriles: A New Building Block for Construction of Small Organic Molecules of Pharmaceutical Interest“ on February 05\, 2026. The lecture will be delivered by Prof. Akhilesh K Verma\, FNA\, FRSC\, Senior Fellow\, Institution of Eminence (IoE)\, Senior Professor (Organic Chemistry)\, Department of Chemistry\, University of Delhi. \nAbstract \nThe simplicity\, efficiency\, and generality of reactions using alkynes have led to its applications in the synthesis of a wide variety of small organic molecules and natural products. Developing synthetic strategies for the direct synthesis of amino-substituted small molecules in terms of selectivity\, operational simplicity\, functional group tolerance\, and\nenvironmental sustainability is in constant demand as the majority of drugs; drug-like compounds contain hetero atoms at their core. In continuation of our interest in the synthesis of small organic molecules using alkynes and super-base chemistry\, we have successfully engineered the synthesis of a variety of biologically important scaffolds using ortho-alkynyl/alkenyl aryl nitriles. In this presentation\, I would like to discuss some recent results in this chemistry. \n
