SUMMARY:Quantiverse 2026: Hands-on Workshop on Quantum Computing
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is organising “Quantiverse 2026: Hands-on Quantum Computing”\, a half-day online workshop in collaboration with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) on February 26\, 2026. \nThe objective of this workshop is to introduce participants to the foundational principles of quantum computing and provide practical exposure to quantum simulation platforms. The sessions will combine conceptual understanding with hands-on experience using Q# (QSharp)\, QSim Noisy Simulator\, and the Qniverse platform. \nThe sessions will be delivered as follows:- \n\nIntroduction to Quantum Computing – Dr Jitendra Joshi\, Knowledge Associate\, C-DAC Pune\nHands-on: Introduction to QSim Noisy Simulator – Mr Girish Belani (C-DAC\nHyderabad)\nHands-on: Introduction to Qniverse Platform – Mr Raja Singh Yadav\, Knowledge Associate\, C-DAC Bengaluru\n\nThe workshop will benefit students\, faculty members\, and research scholars by bridging theoretical learning with practical implementation in emerging quantum technologies. This initiative aims to strengthen industry–academia collaboration and enhance skill development in the domain of quantum computing.

SUMMARY:Research Seminar on Quantum Error Correction via Purification
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Physics\, School of Engineering and Sciences (SEAS) at SRM University-AP is pleased to host a Research Seminar on “Quantum Error Correction via Purification”. \nDr Amit Kumar Pal\, Associate Professor of Physics at IIT Palakkad\, an accomplished researcher in quantum information and computation\, will deliver the session. \nQuantum computation holds immense potential to solve complex problems that remain intractable for even the most powerful classical computers. A critical step toward building large-scale\, fault-tolerant quantum systems is the development of effective quantum error correction techniques. \nIn this seminar\, Dr Pal will explore how measurements on an auxiliary system can be employed to purify desired quantum states and how this approach connects to quantum error correction. Through illustrative examples\, he will also highlight the key challenges in this endeavour. \nFaculty members\, researchers\, and students interested in quantum physics and emerging computational technologies are encouraged to attend this insightful session.

SUMMARY:Talk on Internet Adoption\, Gender and Productivity in Informal Firms
DESCRIPTION:Paari School of Business (PSB) is organising an External Research Talk on “Internet Adoption\, Gender and Productivity in Informal Firms in India” on February 26\, 2026. The talk will be delivered by Ms Jayati Chatterjee\, Research scholar at IIT Madras. \nUsing nationally representative data from 2010 to 2023\, the study analyses the impact of internet adoption on firm productivity in India’s unorganised sector\, with a particular focus on gender differences. The findings reveal that internet adoption leads to an average increase of 28 percent in firm productivity. However\, a substantial gender productivity gap remains\, as female-owned enterprises exhibit nearly 48 percent lower productivity compared to male-owned firms. Notably\, female-led enterprises that adopt internet technology experience a 23 percent increase in productivity\, which helps narrow the productivity gap relative to firms that do not adopt the internet. These results underscore the significant role of digital technology in enhancing productivity and fostering gender-inclusive growth within the informal sector. \nAbout the Speaker \nMs Jayati Chatterjee is a research scholar in Economics at IIT Madras\, specializing in development economics and industrial organisation. Her research focuses on digital technology adoption among small firms\, with an emphasis on gender. Her work has been published in top peer-reviewed journals\, and she has presented her research at international conferences\, including those organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB)\, the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI)\, and the University of Tokyo. She received the Best Paper Award at ICMM 2024\, held at IIM Amritsar.
