DESCRIPTION:The Department of Civil Engineering at SRM University-AP is thrilled to announce that Mr K Nayeemulla\, the Engineer-in-Chief (R&B) MDR Govt. of Andhra Pradesh\, Vijayawada\, will be the esteemed guest speaker for the upcoming 2nd Industry Guest Lecture on “Road Construction and Issues – Critical Review” scheduled to be held on November 09\, 2023. The lecture promises to be insightful and informative\, covering a wide range of topics related to road construction and maintenance. Mr Nayeemulla will also discuss pilot projects on FDP and waste plastic roads in Andhra Pradesh\, providing valuable insights and perspectives on these innovative initiatives. \nThe event is a must-attend for students of civil engineering and road construction! \nAbout the Speaker \nMr K Nayeemulla completed his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from JNTU\, Anantapur\, and his Master’s in Structural Engineering from IISc Bangalore. He also holds an MBA degree from Osmania University\, Hyderabad. In the early days of his career\, Mr Nayeemulla worked as a software engineer at MS Idea Pvt. Ltd\, Bangalore\, and as a lecturer at various colleges\, including BMS College of Engineering\, one of the prestigious colleges in Bangalore. He joined Andhra Pradesh R&B in 1993 as a deputy executive engineer on direct recruitment and has since worked in several roles\, such as Executive Engineer\, Superintending Engineer\, and Chief Engineer\, over 30 years. He actively participates in many prestigious technical forums organised by the Indian Road Congress and CSIR-Centra Road Research Institute (CRRI). His noteworthy achievements in his career include his contributions in obtaining sanctions to the state of AP from NABARD. He works as an Engineer-in-Chief (R&B) MDR\, Government of Andhra Pradesh\, Vijayawada.

The discourse promises to proffer perspectives on the transformative strides witnessed in the field of electric mobility within India. Dr Ravi Gadepalli\, an independent Consultant to the World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB). Mark your calendars for April 02\, 2024\, and partake in this intellectual odyssey to augment your skills in this dynamic field. \nAbout the Speaker \nDr Ravi Gadepalli is an independent consultant working with the World Bank Group and Asian Development Bank over the past five years\, with more than fifteen years of overall experience working on transport policy\, planning\, financing\, and advocacy projects. His ongoing work includes public transport and electric mobility engagements in India\, Bangladesh\, Nepal\, and Nigeria. The majority of his experience is based out of India including active collaboration with Government and Industry stakeholders to advance public transport and other sustainable mobility practices such as electric mobility\, walking\, cycling\, and vehicular emission standards.\nDr Ravi has contributed to National and State level policy initiatives like the National aggregated electric bus procurement program\, the Committee to reform public transport in Karnataka\, JNNURM\, the Smart Cities mission and the FAME scheme. His city-level work included developing Comprehensive Mobility Plans (CMPs)\, and feasibility studies for mass transit and non-motorised transport projects using travel demand models. Dr Ravi received his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi for his work on ‘Developing a framework for integrated planning of bus and paratransit services in Indian cities’. Dr Ravi presented his work at various National and International forums and published twelve articles in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

SUMMARY:SRM AP Partners with Amaravati Drone Summit 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced its partnership with SRM University-AP as its technology partner for the Amaravati Drone Summit 2024. The Summit will feature Union Minister of Civil Aviation\, Shri. Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh\, Shri. Chandra Babu Naidu. Their presence will underscore the importance of the Summit and signal the government’s commitment to embracing new technologies that have the potential to revolutionise various sectors. \nThe summit will feature thought-provoking sessions by Vice Chancellor Prof. Manoj K Arora\, along with other industry and academic leaders. Additionally\, a dedicated exhibition aimed at showcasing solutions and addressing challenges encountered in technology operations will be featured. The Summit will also host Hackathons for students\, providing them with a platform to demonstrate their skills and technological expertise. DESCRIPTION:The Department of Civil Engineering\, in collaboration with the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories\, organises a National Workshop\, “Gunvatta Yatra – Awareness Programme on NABL Accreditations and its Benefits””\, on April 16\, 2025. \nNABL\, as an accreditation body\, complies with ISO/IEC 17011:2017 and is a full member (signatory) to the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA). \nNABL provides impartial\, third-party accreditation services to Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs): \n\nTesting and Calibration Laboratories\nMedical Testing Laboratories\nProficiency Testing Providers (PTP)\nReference Material Producers (RMP)\n\nThe workshop will provide a comprehensive understanding about NABL\, the accreditation process and the benefits of NABL accreditation. \nParticipants from academia\, manufacturers/professionals from the industry\, government/regulators\, Top/middle management of laboratory are encouraged to register for the programme.

Putcha is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at California State University\, Fullerton\, USA. He received his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Prof. Putcha’s research spans structural reliability\, risk analysis\, and interdisciplinary engineering applications\, and he has an extensive record of teaching\, research publications\, and professional contributions in these areas. He has also held visiting academic and research appointments internationally and has contributed significantly to advancing engineering knowledge and practice over his distinguished career.
