SUMMARY:Quantiverse 2026: Hands-on Workshop on Quantum Computing
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is organising “Quantiverse 2026: Hands-on Quantum Computing”\, a half-day online workshop in collaboration with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) on February 26\, 2026. \nThe objective of this workshop is to introduce participants to the foundational principles of quantum computing and provide practical exposure to quantum simulation platforms. The sessions will combine conceptual understanding with hands-on experience using Q# (QSharp)\, QSim Noisy Simulator\, and the Qniverse platform. \nThe sessions will be delivered as follows:- \n\nIntroduction to Quantum Computing – Dr Jitendra Joshi\, Knowledge Associate\, C-DAC Pune\nHands-on: Introduction to QSim Noisy Simulator – Mr Girish Belani (C-DAC\nHyderabad)\nHands-on: Introduction to Qniverse Platform – Mr Raja Singh Yadav\, Knowledge Associate\, C-DAC Bengaluru\n\nThe workshop will benefit students\, faculty members\, and research scholars by bridging theoretical learning with practical implementation in emerging quantum technologies. This initiative aims to strengthen industry–academia collaboration and enhance skill development in the domain of quantum computing.

DESCRIPTION:Google Developer Groups (GDG) in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering is organising “Code4Her”\, a mini hackathon in commemoration of the International Womens’ Day. \nCode4Her 2026 is a mini hackathon encouraging students to design innovative technology solutions addressing real-world challenges faced by woman. The hackathon will be conducted in three technical tracks – AI/ML for women empowerment\, Cybersecurity and privacy for women and Intelligent Safety and assistive technology. Participants will develop a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that demonstrates the core idea\, functionality and potential impact of their proposed solution. \nThe first prize is Rs 3000\, second prize is Rs 2500 and third prize is Rs 1500 with certificate and Google products.

It will introduce a range of advanced AI-driven tools that support key academic activities\, including content development\, data analysis\, literature review\, coding\, and scholarly writing. \nThe session will further highlight strategies for the effective integration of these tools to enhance productivity\, foster innovation\, and enable personalised learning experiences. In addition\, the session will address important ethical considerations and promote the responsible use of AI technologies. Overall\, the session is designed to equip participants with practical insights to effectively leverage AI for improving the quality and efficiency of education and research. \nResource Person: \nProf. B Surendiran\, Professor\, Department of Computer Science and Engineering\, NIT Puducherry \nBrief Bio of the Speaker: \nProf. B Surendiran is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at NIT Puducherry\, Karaikal. He obtained his Ph.D. from NIT Tiruchirappalli\, India. His research interests include machine learning\, medical imaging\, and dimensionality reduction. He has supervised ten research scholars and guided several undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has served the institute in various administrative roles such as Warden\, Head of the Department (CSE)\, Associate Dean (PG and Research)\, and Dean (Faculty Welfare). He has more than 120 publications to his credit and actively reviews for several SCI and Scopus-indexed journals\, having completed over 1200 reviews to date. The session will explore hardware-level vulnerabilities\, attack vectors\, and techniques for safeguarding modern computing systems. It will also highlight secure hardware design practices and real-world applications\, enabling participants to understand the importance of building resilient and trustworthy systems. \nResource Person: Prof. Anirban Sengupta\nProfessor\, Department of Computer Science and Engineering\, IIT Indore \nAbout the Speaker \nProf. Anirban Sengupta is a Full Professor at IIT Indore with over 330 publications\, 16 patents\, and 6 books to his credit. He is a Fellow of the IET (UK)\, the British Computer Society (UK)\, and the IETE (India)\, and a Senior Member of IEEE. He has received several prestigious recognitions\, including the IEEE Chester Sall Memorial Award (2020) and multiple best paper and research awards. He has served in key leadership roles within IEEE societies and currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of IET Computers & Digital Techniques. He has held over 20 editorial positions in reputed IEEE\, IET\, and Nature journals and has been consistently ranked among the top 2% of scientists globally by Stanford University (2021–2024).
