Prof. Michel Waldschmidt\, Emeritus Professor at Sorbonne Universit´e\, Institut Mathematique de Jussieu\, France\, will deliver the talk “On the ABC Conjecture.” \nAbstract \nThe talk will explain the statement of the ABC Conjecture proposed by Oesterlé and Masser in the mid-80s and give a collection of easy-to-state consequences of this conjecture. This lecture will not include an introduction to Shinichi Mochizuki’s Inter-universal Teichmüller Theory. \nAbout the Speaker \nProf. Michel Waldschmidt is an eminent French mathematician specialising in transcendental number theory. He is a Professor Emeritus at the Institut de Mathématiques de Jussieu – Paris Rive Gauche (IMJ-PRG)\, University of Paris\, France. Renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to Diophantine approximations\, algebraic independence\, and transcendental numbers\, Prof. Waldschmidt has authored several influential books and research articles. \nWith a career spanning decades\, Prof. Waldschmidt has been actively involved in advancing mathematical research and education worldwide.
