SUMMARY:Green Growth Technology: A Unique Strategy for Sustainable Development
DESCRIPTION:Green growth\, an exceptional strategy advocating environmentally sustainable economic development\, has received wider attention due to the prevailing crisis on climate change and environmental degradation. In this needful hour of cultivating green skills to adapt products\, services and processes to combat climate change and the related environmental requirements\, The Department of Environmental Sciences is organising a National Science Day Seminar on “Green Growth Technologies and Skills” on March 07\, 2023. Prof. Seeram Ramakrishna\, FREng\, Everest Chair\, Director-Center for Nanotechnology & Sustainability\, National University of Singapore\, will be the keynote speaker of the seminar. \nAbstract \nCountries pledged net-zero emissions by 2050. Businesses are aligning with the decarbonization of economies. There are three main routes to decarbonization. Energy efficiency is estimated to reduce emissions by 15-20%. Deploying decarbonised technologies across all sectors contributes to a 40-45% reduction in emissions. Up to 40% emissions reduction is envisaged by transitioning from the current linear economy to a more circular economy. The circular industrial economy reduces dependence on virgin resources and generates resources from the waste streams generated by consumerism. Green growth means greening existing industries and creating new green industries. The green growth pursuit augers well for humans and global environmental commons. \nJoin the session and gain constructive insights into Green growth technology and the Green economy! \nView Programme Schedule
