He is a Ph.D. from the University of Calcutta and worked as a postdoc first at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and then at CERN\, Geneva. He taught Physics at IIT Kanpur for several years before joining TIFR\, where he is now a Professor of Theoretical Physics and Dean (Administration). His research interests are interfacing theory with experiments\, especially in the physics of electroweak interactions. He is also interested in the popularisation and history of science.

Prof. Subrahmanyam is an expert scholar and researcher in the fields of Energy\, Environment and Nanomaterials and has been named in the top 2% scientists list by Stanford University. Recognised as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC)\, he has also received numerous awards such as the Hiyoshi Environmental Award 2013\, Research Excellence Award -IITH and many more. \nProf. Subrahmanyam has worked on pioneering research projects sponsored by UAY\, MNRE\, DST\, CSIR\, MOEF and DRDO and has 230 International journal publications to his credit. \nJoin the talk for a resourceful and insightful session!

An experience that transcends the limits of the known\, promising a captivating journey through the frontiers of physics. \nMark your calendar to venture into the cosmos of the infinitesimally small\, seeking to unravel the secrets that shape our understanding of the universe. \nAbout the Speaker \nProf. Sreerup Raychaudhuri works on the physics of elementary particles and their interactions. He is a Ph.D. from the University of Calcutta and worked as a postdoc first at TIFR and then at CERN\, Geneva. He is also interested in the popularisation and history of science. \nAbstract \nOver the past twelve decades\, we have gathered an incredible amount of information about the world at tiny length scales going down from a nano-metre – the size of a small molecule – to the order of an atto-metre – a billion times smaller – which is the limit of today’s experiments. We have found the most amazing structures and interactions which could not have been dreamed of in earlier times. We will trace the story of this great adventure from an empirical viewpoint and ask if we have finally unravelled the ultimate building blocks of the Universe.
