SUMMARY:HACK MSC 2.0 National Hackathon
DESCRIPTION:Hack MSC 2.0 is a 30-hour national level hackathon by the Microsoft Student Community\, SRM University-AP\, themed “Solutions for Smart India.” Open to all students from any branch or year\, it focuses on solving real-world challenges in healthcare\, energy\, education\, and infrastructure for the Nation. The event includes pre-hackathon workshops\, 24 hours of coding\, and 5 hours for pitching. \nHistory\n<HACK>x<MSC> was the predecessor event of the Hackathon that proved to be one of the finest in the University with problem statements emphasizing on Campus Problems. This time we took the nation into consideration to resolve our India to drive towards smartness with 2.0. \nTheme – Solution Towards Smart India\nProblem statement is Open adhering to the Theme of the Hackathon and Teams can work on Security\, IT\, Cyber\, AI\, Green Energy\, anything that endorses and paves way towards Smart India. \nActivities  \nDay 1\n1. Hackathon Participants reach SRM University Andhra Pradesh for participation in Offline Round by paying registration fee. \n2. FUN ACTIVITY Fun Activities like Movie Night / Tech Hunt will be organized on the eve of Day 1 for relaxation of Participants \nDay 2\n1. Phase 1 & 2 evaluation on Day 2\, Before Lunch Phase 1 Evaluation will be conducted for selected Teams. Post Lunch Phase 2 will commence for all Teams \n2.RECRUITING & Closing All participants will be given an Internship Recruitment Drive. Post the Winner Announcement and Closing. \nTHE DEAL:\n– 400+ PARTICIPANT ACROSS NATION Get hold of bright talents across the nation with an opportunity to recruit interns and collaborate with outstanding project. \n– 30HRS On theme solution for smart india\, with problem statements focusing on Healthcare\, Security\, Cyber\, AI\, infrastructure and many more that allows participants to structure towards a developed nation. \nTHE ORGANISING COMMITTEE:\n1. DESCRIPTION:The Department of Media Studies is organising a Guest Lecture titled\, Numbers to Narrative: Telling Stories with Data. The guest lecture will feature Ms Areena Arora\, Data Journalist & Editorial Coder\, The Hindu and Mr Dhrumil Mehta is an Associate Professor of Journalism at Columbia University and the Assistant Director of the Tow Center for Digital Journalism. The primary objective of the lecture is to intersect data and storytelling by showcasing how data can be transformed into compelling narratives \nAbout the Speakers: \nMr Dhrumil Mehta:\nDhrumil Mehta is an Associate Professor of Journalism at Columbia University and the Assistant Director of the Tow Center for Digital Journalism. He teaches courses in Columbia’s three-semester Data Journalism M.S. program and is also a Visiting Associate Professor in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School.\nPreviously\, Dhrumil was a Database Journalist at FiveThirtyEight\, where he built databases\, scrapers\, bots\, and interactive graphics alongside reporting and writing about elections\, public opinion and media. \nMs Areena Arora:\nMs Areena Arora holds a Master of Science in Data Journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Ohio Wesleyan University. Currently\, she is serving as an Editorial Coder at The Hindu in Chennai. Ms Areena previously worked as a Data & Investigative Journalist for the Knoxville News Sentinel\, where she won first place for education reporting in Tennessee in 2022.\nShe has also worked as Senior Sub-Editor at Glance and played a pivotal role in leading a global team of editors to present news to millions. She has also held positions at Reuters\, Idaho Press-Tribune\, and has taken on leadership roles in various university programmes\, including serving as Head Student Coordinator for Ohio Wesleyan University’s International Student Ambassador Programme. \nMs Areena’s cross-disciplinary skills in data journalism\, editorial judgment\, and a commitment to community engagement make her a prominent figure in the field of journalism. You can explore her work at The Transcript\, where she also took on managing editor responsibilities\, demonstrating her talent in both reporting and design. \nTheir expertise will offer an insightful experience to all the participants.\nWe look forward to your active participation.
