SUMMARY:Explore 5G: New applications for IoTs and AI
DESCRIPTION:The advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution characterised by the amalgamation of technologies\, blurs the lines between physical\, digital\, and biological spheres. The future of communication technology\, an active constituent of the revolution\, lies with the 5G cellular network. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is organising a Guest Lecture on “Massive IoT and AI in 5G cellular communication” on November 19\, 2022. Mr Anoop Purohit\, Consultant Specialist-5G will address the session on how 5G facilitates high bandwidth communication and provides an opportunity for multiple essential applications that can have a life changing impact on human civilization. \nThe webinar will highlight various special applications which will be provided by 5G\, like Massive Internet of things and Artificial Intelligence\, further promoting smarter homes and an advanced ecosystem for analysing our needs and providing them automatically. The talk will expound on a range of topics such as smart metres\, smart homes\, self-drive cars\, robot medical surgeries and an ecosystem of devices interacting intelligently to comfort civilization. \nAbout the speaker \nMr Anoop Purohit is consultant specialist-5G\, Nokia Taiwan\, with 12 Years of national and international wireless telecom network experience in Cloud-infra and packet core training\, integration\, operations\, planning\, optimization\, dimensioning\, service delivery and customer support in top-tier service providers and multi-vendor environments (Nokia\, Ericsson\, ALLU university-Bell Labs) in the fields of 5G\, LTE\, UMTS\, GSM\, and 2G. He has worked across the globe in places like the United States\, South Korea\, Canada\, Singapore\, Australia\, Taiwan\, India\, PNG\, Middle East\, South East Asia and Africa. At Nokia Taiwan\, he is the Lead Architect for Nokia Massive IoT (Internet of Things)\, and is responsible for planning and optimising 5G solutions for most of Nokia Taiwan customers. He is also involved in the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in the Cellular Network.

SUMMARY:Developments and new emerging applications of semiconductor devices
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is organising the third edition of the Departmental Distinguished Industry-Academia Interaction Lecture Series on November 28\, 2022. The title of the talk is “Semiconductor Devices Developments & New Emerging Applications”. Dr Srinivasa Yeduru\, Senior Manager\, Technology Pathfinding Group at Micron Technologies Boise\, USA\, will be the keynote speaker for the event. \nAbstract of the Talk \nThe creation of new semiconductor devices\, technologies and applications will have a major impact on the semiconductor industry. Artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to drive the major expansion of the semiconductor industry due to its high demand. In recent years\, high demand has stemmed from the automotive market as it is expected to grow the fastest in the AI sector. Autonomous vehicles or self-driving cars are equipped with sensors that allow them to see the world around them. Self-driving cars are already on the roads today\, and they are likely to play a disruptive role not only in personal transportation but also in many other industries as well. As years go by\, there will be a huge spike in demand for AI-tailored semiconductors as connectivity\, sensing\, and instant computing will become increasingly central to everyday devices. Semiconductors play a prominent role in the technology that people use every day. As technology continues to expand and transform at a rapid pace\, many emerging application development demand novel high-performance devices which continue to scale with costs. \nSpeaker’s Profile \nDr Srinivasa Yeduru has 13 years of experience in the area of new product development\, technology pathfinding & excellence\, and process integration to manufacture technologies like memory devices\, high voltage MOSFETs & IGBTs\, and MEMS. Before joining Micron technologies\, he worked at ONSEMI as the senior manager\, leading a team of process integration and process engineers. Prior to that\, in Infineon technologies\, he held diversified management roles as product development manager for high voltage MOSFETs\, and process integration manager covering fab\, post fab and assembly process development and integration responsibilities. He earned his doctorate in mechanical engineering\, specializing in microelectronic devices\, from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology\, Germany. He holds many patents\, authored books and several international publications on power semiconductors and MEMS.
