The session will be handled by Prof. Dr Mohd Rashidi Che Beson\, Faculty of Electronic Engineering & Technology\, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP)\, Malaysia. \nAbout the Speaker \nProf. Dr Mohd Rashidi Che Beson has been an associate professor and Research Fellow at Advanced Communication Engineering\, Centre of Excellence – Faculty of Electronic Engineering & Technology\, UniMAP since 2014. An advocate of interdisciplinary research\, his research interests lie in the strength of Optical CDMA technology\, RoF\, Visible Light Communication\, Horticulture and Fiber sensor technology. He has published 136 scientific papers\, including conferences and journals\, from 2014 until July 2022. The total citation was 540 from Google Scholar and 469 from Scopus databases. In addition\, he is also a regular reviewer for several high-impact ISI-ranked journals. He has also successfully supervised 3 PhD and 6 MSc students as the main and co-supervisor. He is currently supervising 4 PhD students. He received his professional engineer qualification (Ir.) from the Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM) in March 2018 and a professional technologist (Ts.) from the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) in July 2018.

Mr Mark Forehand\, Senior Assistant Dean for Graduate Enrollment; Dr Benjamin Klein\, Professor and Chair\, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering; and Dr Sumit Chakravarty\, Associate Professor\, Department of Electrical Engineering from the Kennesaw State University\, USA are the honorary delegates visiting the campus. The session aims to certify an interactive and insightful exchange between the visiting delegates and the students and faculty of the institution. \nAbout the Delegates \nMr Mark Forehand is the Senior Assistant Dean for Graduate Enrollment Management\, The Graduate College – Kennesaw State University\, USA. A proactive leader\, Mr. Mark Forehand is a results-focused professional with cross speciality strengths in Education\, Leadership and Analysis. Prior to his current role\, Mr Forehand served as the Assistant Dean in the Graduate College\, Director of International Student and Scholar Services\, Interim Director of the IEP\, and Director of Academic English Programs in the Division of Global Affairs. He also serves as an Interim Executive Director for the Siegel Institute. His expertise lies in being proficient in leveraging processing and workflow knowledge to promote growth regardless of the industry. Mr Forehand is adept at managing concurrent objectives to promote efficiency and influence positive outcomes. \nDr Benjamin Klein is the Professor and Chair\, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering\, Kennesaw State University\, Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology. A renowned academician and researcher\, Dr Klein received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois with his doctoral dissertation on the theory and modelling of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs. Dr Klein’s research interests involve the theory\, modelling\, and design of semiconductor electronic and optoelectronic materials and devices. He creates and utilizes numerical simulation programs to provide insight into the nano-scale physics of semiconductors. His most recent project is the modelling of multilayered III nitride samples in atom probe tomography (APT) measurement systems to assist in interpreting the measurement data. \nDr Sumit Chakravarty currently works as an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at Kennesaw State University Lawrenceville\, Georgia\, United States. His area of expertise is in Wireless Communications\, AI and Signal Processing and has worked as a scientist in the industry wherein he has also worked on other sensor modalities commonly used in remote sensing like Multispectral\, Lidar and SAR. This includes working with a cross-disciplinary team comprising specialists from industry\, government bodies like NASA\, Goddard and academia like the University of Maryland. The only modern pictographic language\, Mandarin Chinese\, is spoken in almost 13 countries\, and about 909 million people use it as their first language. \nThe Directorate of International Relations and Higher Studies is organising a workshop\, Hello Taiwan! 你好臺灣 – Learning Mandarin Chinese and Beyond to connect students with Taiwan and to promote the benefits of learning Mandarin Chinese language. The workshop’s objective is to encourage students to enrol in the Mandarin Chinese Language course as an open elective subject for the upcoming semester. It will introduce the Taiwan Education Center (TEC) on campus\, and the courses offered to undergraduates. \nLearning a new language is not narrowed to a mere alphabet but is broad enough to dive into the culture\, history\, politics\, arts\, literature\, and many more characteristics that the language is comprised of. Besides this\, learning Mandarin Chinese language can cause significant wonders in one’s career. Companies worldwide prefer aspirants who are bilingual or multilingual in the present day. Many corporations trading with China or having offices in China are looking for people who speak Mandarin. There are tremendous employment opportunities as native speakers who are also Mandarin Chinese speakers are pretty rare. \nAbout the speakers \nMs HsinYi Huang is from Taiwan and working as a Mandarin Chinese Instructor of TEC at SRM University – AP. She will enlighten the students about the centre and the courses. Dr JP Raja Pandiyan\, Assistant Professor of the Department of Chemistry\, will share his precious experience of pursuing his higher education in Taiwan. SUMMARY:SRM AP to ink an MoU with the Rennes School of Business
DESCRIPTION:The diplomatic relations between India and France have been prevalent\, and cooperation has developed in all major areas\, including science and technology. Delegate visits are excellent opportunities to strengthen international partnerships and promote the mission of an educational institution. The Office of International Relations and Higher Studies is all set to host the Indo-French Collaboration Meet for inking an MoU with the Rennes School of Business. \nDate: August 23\, 2022 \nTime: 08.30 AM to 10.30 AM \nVenue: Board room \nThe ceremony aims to to sign the Student Exchange Agreement. The visiting delegates are Dr Thomas Froehlicher\, Dean\, Rennes School of Business\, and Ms Maud LE BARS\, South Asia Area Manager Rennes School of Business. A meeting with Pro-Vice-chancellor Prof D Narayana Rao and the team will be held after an opening remark by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof V S Rao. There will be discussions regarding the collaboration and the road map ahead. Registrar Dr R Premkumar\, DEAN of SEAMS Dr Bharadwaj\, and Associate Director of IR&HS Dr Naga Swetha Pasupuleti will also grace the occasion with their august presence.

SUMMARY:Kondapalli toys; the geographical indication handicrafts of Andhra Pradesh
DESCRIPTION:The legacy of India’s craft culture always occupies a special spot owing to its beauty\, dignity\, form\, style\, and aesthetics. India is traditionally known for its rural village and wooden cottage Industries. Among them\, Andhra Pradesh has glorious rural artisan handmade traditions in toys. The office of International Relations and Higher Studies conducted a workshop on August 16\, 2022\, to promote and celebrate the dignity of Kondapalli Toys. These toys are one of the geographical indication handicrafts from Andhra Pradesh. \nThe workshop belongs to the series of sessions organised as part of Aadigyan\, the social leadership programme. Mr Durga Prasad\, a traditional Kondapalli artisan of Andhra Pradesh\, handled the workshop for two hours. He demonstrated the process of crafting the toys and explained their history. Various tools used for wood carving\, division of labor among male and female artisans\, social implications of the toys\, etc.\, were discussed in this interactive session. Volunteered students also learned some wood carving basics from the artisan himself. \nThe rural industry holds a share of ten percent in the decentralised sector. The handicrafts industry is one of the major sectors that offer employment opportunities to a larger number of individuals. Yet the 400 years old industry is not getting the attention it deserves due to a lack of promotion and awareness. Sandeep Samala\, the programme coordinator\, highlighted the need for spreading the heritage of Kondapalli toys among the younger generation. He also explained how the industry could be approached from a startup’s perspective to amplify the toys’ promotion.
