Recognising the profound impact of creative expression\,  the Arts\, Culture and Literary Society (ACTS) organised a captivating Creative Writing Competition on February 08\, 2023. \nThe objective of the Creative Writing Competition was to provide a platform for students across departments to showcase their writing prowess and imaginative flair. More than just a contest\, the event sought to foster a culture of artistic expression and offer a platform for students to unleash their boundless potential. \nThe response to the competition surpassed all expectations\, as students from diverse departments eagerly embraced the opportunity to showcase their literary talents. Among the multitude of entries\, Andrew Lwanga and K Sairam Koushal stood out for their exceptional creativity and originality. Their works resonated with the essence of storytelling\, weaving intricate narratives that were both familiar and fantastical at the same time. \nThe success of the Creative Writing Competition speaks volumes about the university’s unwavering commitment to nurturing and celebrating the artistic endeavours of its students. As the curtains drew on another chapter of literary excellence\, the echoes of inspiration continued to reverberate throughout the campus.

DESCRIPTION:Voting is a fundamental right for every citizen of our country.  Being future leaders and aspirers\, it is important for all the students to have a keen interest in taking part in the important events of elections and educating students on voting rules\, in relation to this\, The Directorate of Student Affairs organised an awareness session on Novemeber 22\, 2022 with Mr Ram Prasad\, Tehsildar – Mangalagiri Mandal. \nMr Ram Prasad in his one-hour session\, spoke elaborately on the need for the young voters. He emphasised that every citizen who has turned 18 should utilise his/her fundamental right to vote. He also informed the students of the Revision of Photos in the Electoral Rolls. The Tehsildar of Mangalagiri encouraged the voters to participate in the electoral process and make informed decisions in the matters of nation building. \nThe Tehsildaar stressed upon the need for each student to take up the responsibility of the state or city he/she lives in and stated that in a democratic nation such as India\, the responsibility of nation building falls on each one of us\, whether it be a district or state or country. The enlightening session left the students charged and with a purpose to serve the nation for a better and beautiful tomorrow.

SUMMARY:Sunshine 2022: A Day Spent in the Service of Others
DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of Children’s Day\, SRM University-AP organises “Sunshine- 2022”\, an event to celebrate Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary. The varsity organised the celebrations at Vijaya Mary Integrated School for the Blind – Gunadala\, Vijayawada. \nPandit Nehru held children in high regard. He believed “Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured\, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow”. The event was organised with the aim of raising awareness about the rights\, education\, and welfare of the children at the blind school. Various competitions and fun activities were organised to engage the students. The varsity students also took part in entertaining the students with games and other performances. Students of the varsity also interacted with the faculty of the blind school in order to understand the students’ conditions better. Winners of the competitions were rewarded with water bottles. \nThe celebrations culminated with the varsity distributing food\, chocolates and juice to the children. The children felt delighted and spent a joyful time with the SRM AP family.

DESCRIPTION:In observance of the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities\, The Creative Arts Club under the Directorate of Student Affairs at SRM University-AP organised an Art Exhibition on August 30 & 31\, 2022. The two-day event showcased the students’ artistic talents through painting\, drawing\, photography and modelling Ganesh idols. \nThe Art pieces displayed for the exhibition employed creative use of materials like ice cream sticks to fabrics\, showcasing the club students’  ingenuity and artistic versatility making the best out of waste. The art pieces reflected dedication and creativity thereby creating a visual spectacle and drawing attention to the varied representations of Lord Ganpati and showcasing different art styles.  \nThe primary objective of the exhibition was to provide a platform for the students to showcase their creative abilities. However\, the event also aimed to offer an opportunity for the students to exhibit their presentation\, communication\, and organisational skills. It was a chance for them to demonstrate their capabilities in planning and executing an event of this nature\, which required them to work collaboratively as a team. The exhibition allowed the students to demonstrate their talents and abilities to a wider audience\, and provided them with a sense of accomplishment and pride in their achievements.

That’s why it’s important to find ways to mitigate your body and mind’s stress responses. \nThe Department of Student Affairs is conducting a session on Time to kick the stress out to convey the importance of identifying harmful stress and managing it in the best way possible. SUMMARY:Classical concert on Annamacharya Sankeertanas
DESCRIPTION:Tallapaka Annamacharya\, popularly known as ‘Anamayya’\, was a 15th-century saint and the earliest known Indian musician to compose songs called sankeertanas in praise of Lord Venkateswara. His compositions have strongly influenced the structure of Carnatic Music and are still making rounds in various music concerts and performances the world over. \nHaving composed countless odes to Sri Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy\, Annamacharya is widely regarded as the Pada Kavitaa Pitamaha of Telugu poetry. He was a reputed singer and an eminent poet who gave life to the Telugu song and lyricism by blending the Telugu ‘Andhra Vedam’ for the easy understanding of the common man\, with the summary of ‘Sanskrit Vedas’. \nTirumala Tirupati Devasthanams\, also known as TTD\, are on an endeavour to preserve the rich heritage of his compositions. They have set music to over 800 compositions of Annamacharya that have amassed wide popularity among the devotees. SUMMARY:Fostering an Eco-Conscious Generation
DESCRIPTION:World Environment Day is celebrated annually on June 5th to raise awareness of the dire need to combat the global climate and environmental crisis and reinforce the timeless message that Earth is the only habitable planet. The university commemorated World Environment Day through an awareness rally to instil the importance of environmental conservation among the academic community. Prof. D Narayana Rao\, Pro-Vice-Chancellor was the chief guest for the event and motivated students and the university to facilitate discussions on ways to combat current environmental challenges and urged for environmental conservation. \nThe awareness rally was a great success in spreading the message of environmental responsibility and creating a sense of urgency and commitment among the students to protect and sustain our planet for generations to come. The event fostered a sense of responsibility among participants and renewed their commitment to preserving and restoring the environment. The emphasis on sustainable practices prompted students to reflect on their individual roles in environmental protection. The celebration not only marked World Environment Day but also laid the ground for ongoing initiatives\, ensuring that the necessity and relevance of environmental protection remain at the forefront of collective consciousness for the benefit of future generations.

Nature conservation is that battle we plot against ourselves only to win back what we destroyed. \nThe reckless devastations can only be nullified through transformative actions which can reset the balance between humanity and nature. Getting out of the denial stage and acting accordingly is the only way to preserve nature for the next generation. A greener\, cleaner\, and sustainable tomorrow will always be a matter of urgency with the escalating environmental issues. \nThe Department of Student Affairs is celebrating World Environment Day to spread hopes and action plans for protecting what we have in order to restore what we lost. The celebration aspires to emphasise and accelerate the thoughts on the predicament situation we are in. Various cultural programmes are organised as part of the celebrations. Uttam Pratibha Mahila awards will be distributed\, the women faculty members and leadership team will be felicitated. We take this opportunity to inculcate indomitable spirit and strong belief in oneself in the minds of every woman. \nIt is imperative to acknowledge the success story of every woman in a world where gender inequality and female discrimination continue to rule over. The theme chosen for women’s day 2022 is ‘Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow’.
