SUMMARY:Upping our A-game with NITTTR Chennai and SRM faculties
DESCRIPTION:The Faculty and Academic Affairs unit is hosting a Faculty Development Program (FDP)\, an initiative of the SRM University-AP Teaching Learning Centre (TLC)\, which was inaugurated on October 25\, 2021\, at 2:45 pm by Prof. V S Rao\, our esteemed Vice-Chancellor who graced the event as the Chief Guest and the revered Prof. Usha Natesan\, Director\, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chennai as the Guest of Honour in the occasion. \nThis FDP will be an opportunity to nurture the finest traits that our faculty members have to offer by inviting five faculty members from NITTTR Chennai. Dr G. Janardhanan (Course coordinator)\, Dr P. Malliga\, Dr S. Renukadevi\, Dr V. Shanmuganeethi\, and Dr E. S. M. Suresh from NITTTR Chennai; Dr Balgauruprasad Narayanan (Course Coordinator)\, and Dr Anupama Ghattu from Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) SRM University-AP\, and Dr Rajeev Sukumaran from the Centre for Applied Research (CARE)\, SRMIST will be the resource persons for this event. \nNITTTR Chennai is a Ministry of Education\, Government of India-funded institution. The SWAYAM-MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) courses offered by NITTTR have become very popular among the teachers’ community as easy-to-access resources. \nThe entire FDP will be conducted in four batches and over 170 faculty members of SRM University will participate in it to learn about the latest developments in pedagogical methods and their incorporation in the classroom setting. The events for the first batch will continue from October 25\, 2021\, till November 6\, 2021\, from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm every day coming up to a total of 10 sessions. \nThis Faculty Development Program jointly designed by NITTTR Chennai and SRM University-AP will give our educators the essential tools needed to make every classroom experience an unrivalled growing opportunity for the students. We urge our faculty members to make the most of this event from October 25\, 2021\, onwards.

SUMMARY:Hands-on IoT with MATLAB and ThingSpeak
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at SRM University-AP is hosting the third edition of the ongoing online Workshop Series “Learn & Earn: Hands-On Science & Technology (HOST)” to learn and explore the latest techniques in the field of science and technology. The workshop series-III\, titled “IoT Hands-on with MATLAB & ThingSpeak”\, will be held on August 10\, 2021. Mr Ramana Anchuri from MathWorks will engage the participants of the workshop from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. \nThe main objective of organising the workshop on IoT is to impart practical lessons on the following topics: a) Leveraging low-cost hardware for IoT\, b) Setting up ThingSpeak Channel c) Basic Hardware Integration such as Blinking an LED\, Reading sensor data and acting on data\, d) IoT Analytics using ThingSpeak like Apps and Data Explorers. \nAbout the Speaker:\nRamana Anchuri is an Engineer from the Education Team at The MathWorks\, working with academia in India. He completed his undergraduate studies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Masters in Power Electronics from JNTU Hyderabad. Prior to joining The MathWorks\, he worked in academia and in industry. He worked with KPIT Pune as a senior software engineer where he was responsible for control design for automotive engine systems\, and with CYIENT Limited as a senior software engineer responsible for developing\, verifying and validating aircraft engine control systems. He is passionate about teaching and learning\, and his current interests include Power Electronics and Control Design\, Model-Based Design and Code Generation. \nPrerequisites for a highly effective workshop session: \n\nAll participants should have a MathWorks account\, if they haven’t already – follow the instructions in the attached doc for account creation.\nAll participants must complete the MATLAB Onramp & Simulink Onramp prior to the session. Each of these free Onramps typically takes 2-3 hours and is self-paced. Participants get a completion certificate from MathWorks for each of these courses.\nSince we have hands-on activity during the session\, every participant needs to join with a working laptop with access to MATLAB installed version/MATLAB Online – They need not have hardware at their end.\nFor those participants who don’t have a license to access MATLAB\, they can request a trial.\n\nSteps to create a MathWorks account: \nMathWorks Workshop
