SUMMARY:2nd International Conference on Breaking Barriers : Reimagining Centre
DESCRIPTION:Department of Literature and Languages\, Easwari School of Liberal Arts\, SRM University-AP\, is organising Second International Conference on Breaking Barriers: Reimagining Centre – Margin Dynamics from Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Dec 17 & 18\, 2025. \nBreaking Barriers : Reimagining Centre – Margin Dynamics from Interdisciplinary Perspectives is an international academic conference that invites critical reflection on the enduring binaries of centre and\nmargin in our contemporary world. The conference seeks to interrogate how entrenched hierarchies of\npower continue to influence structures of governance\, identity\, knowledge\, and belonging. As global\nsocio-political shifts expose the fractures of centralized authority\, from geopolitical crises and\nalgorithmic surveillance to gender-based violence and climate collapse\, this conference asserts the\nurgency of thinking from and with the margins. \nKEY THEMES \n\nIntersectionality and Multilayered Marginalization\nPower and Knowledge: Epistemic Decolonization\nTechno-politics and Digital Hierarchies\nBorders\, Migration\, and Statelessness\nCultural Appropriation and the Politics of Visibility\nResistance\, Solidarity\, and New Social Movements\nArt\, Media\, and Performance from the Margins\nDocumenting Marginalized Dialects and Language Varieties\nLanguage Revitalization Through Digital Platforms\nCode-mixed Language in Social Media and NLP\nCode-switching and Multilingual Practices in Everyday Life\nBias in Large Language Models (LLMs)\n\nKEYNOTE SPEAKERS \nDr Raj Kumar\, Professor\, Delhi University\nDr Michael Pretes\, Professor\, University of Alabama\nDr Anna Bernard\, Professor\, King’s College London\nDr Angshuman Kar\, Professor\, Burdwan University\nDr Sipra Mukherjee\, Professor\, West Bengal State University \nAbstract Submission Deadline: October 10\, 2025\nFull Paper Submission: October 31\, 2025\nEarly Bird Registration ends: November 15\, 2025 \nSUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Abstracts (250–300 words) outlining the central argument\, methodology\, and contribution to the theme should be submitted to: http://bit.ly/4ojrLmB \nFor any further information\, please visit: https://srmap.edu.in/breaking-barriers/ or write to: event.ll@srmap.edu.in

SUMMARY:Seminar on Probing Higgs Boson at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Physics is organising a research seminar on the topic “Probing Higgs Boson at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)” at 03.00 PM\, January 07\, 2026. The seminar will be delivered by Dr Gouranga Kole\, Postdoctoral Research Fellow\, National Taiwan\, University and CERN\, Geneva\, Switzerland. \nAbstract \nRecent results on measurements related to the Higgs boson using proton–proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the CMS experiment at the LHC will be presented. The seminar will begin with an overview of the object reconstruction techniques employed in the CMS experiment\, providing essential context for the subsequent analyses. The main focus will be on Higgs boson decays into a top quark and a light quark within the framework of the two-Higgs-doublet model. In particular\, the signal strengths and the corresponding upper limits on the production cross sections will be discussed\, offering insights into Higgs–fermion interactions and possible signs of physics beyond the Standard Model. The seminar will conclude with a summary of the current status of charged Higgs boson searches at CMS.

SUMMARY:SRM University–AP to Host Guest Talk on Hybrid Quantum Simulations for HPCQC
DESCRIPTION:The Office of the Dean–Research\, SRM University–AP\, is organising a distinguished Guest Talk by Dr Namrataa Kommineni\, AICTE Industry Fellow at HPC Tech\, CDAC–Pune\, on January 29\, 2026. \nThe talk\, titled “Exploring Hybrid DFT Quantum Embedding Simulations of Molecules for HPCQC\,” will focus on emerging approaches that integrate Hybrid Density Functional Theory (DFT) with quantum embedding techniques to enable advanced molecular simulations. The session will highlight how active molecular regions can be treated with high-fidelity quantum methods\, such as the Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE)\, while being embedded within scalable DFT environments. \nDr Kommineni will discuss how accuracy and computational efficiency scale with system size and complexity using noiseless estimation on quantum platforms. The findings demonstrate significant efficiency gains compared to traditional correlated quantum chemistry methods and underline the importance of continued exploration at the intersection of High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Quantum Computing (QC). \nThe talk is expected to provide valuable insights for researchers\, faculty members\, and students interested in quantum chemistry\, materials science\, and next-generation computational simulations\, emphasising the role of HPC-QC in bridging fundamental quantum rigor with real-world\, materials-scale applications.

SUMMARY:Chemistry Guest Lecture on O-Alkynyl-Nitriles
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Chemistry is organising a Guest Lecture on the topic “O-Alkynyl-Nitriles: A New Building Block for Construction of Small Organic Molecules of Pharmaceutical Interest“ on February 05\, 2026. The lecture will be delivered by Prof. Akhilesh K Verma\, FNA\, FRSC\, Senior Fellow\, Institution of Eminence (IoE)\, Senior Professor (Organic Chemistry)\, Department of Chemistry\, University of Delhi. \nAbstract \nThe simplicity\, efficiency\, and generality of reactions using alkynes have led to its applications in the synthesis of a wide variety of small organic molecules and natural products. Developing synthetic strategies for the direct synthesis of amino-substituted small molecules in terms of selectivity\, operational simplicity\, functional group tolerance\, and\nenvironmental sustainability is in constant demand as the majority of drugs; drug-like compounds contain hetero atoms at their core. In continuation of our interest in the synthesis of small organic molecules using alkynes and super-base chemistry\, we have successfully engineered the synthesis of a variety of biologically important scaffolds using ortho-alkynyl/alkenyl aryl nitriles. In this presentation\, I would like to discuss some recent results in this chemistry. \n
