DESCRIPTION:India has become a leading exponent of stellar growth in its 75 year long journey since independence. The nation has transgressed subsisting limitations to make remarkable progress as an emerging power. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is organising the fifteenth edition of the University Distinguished Lecture series on the topic “India at 75 and beyond” to reflect and devise a holistic approach to attain our future vision for our country. Dr C Rangarajan\, renowned economist and former Governor of Reserve Bank of India\, is the keynote speaker of this insightful session. \nAbout the speaker \nDr C Rangarajan is a prominent economist of India who has played a key role both as an academician and a policy maker. He has held several esteemed positions which include Governor of Reserve Bank of India\, Governor of Andhra Pradesh as well as Chairman\, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister in the rank of Cabinet Minister. He is currently the Chairman of Madras School of Economics. \nHe served as the 19th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India during 1992-97 at a time when India embarked on wide-ranging economic reforms which fundamentally altered the structure of the Indian economy. India became a member of the Bank for International Settlements during his tenure. \nDr C Rangarajan has authored numerous books on Indian economy including “Tracking the Indian Economy: A Collection of Articles” (2017)\, “Federalism and Fiscal Transfers in India” (co-author) (2011) and several others. He was the President of the Indian Economic Association in 1988 and the President of the Indian Econometric Society in 1994. \nDr Rangarajan is the recipient of several prestigious awards. Notable among them are the Honorary Fellow of the Indian Institute of Management\, Ahmedabad and the ‘Finance Man of the Decade’ by the Bombay Management Association. DESCRIPTION:The Arts\, Culture and Literary Society (ACTS) organised an exhibition in collaboration with the Directorate of Student Affairs to celebrate National Unity Day. The event commemorates Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary and aims to promote unity and raise awareness about his life and contributions. The celebration was held on October 31\, 2022\, as part of this initiative. \nThe exhibition showcased the life history of the visionary statesman that helped educate and inspire students and faculty. The Arts\, Culture and Literary Society (ACTS) and Quiz Club provided an intellectual engagement encouraging participants to reflect on the role of national and international organisations in representing unified interests. The event hoped to instil a sense of unity\, knowledge\, and appreciation for the freedom fighter’s values. \nThe exhibition inspired a diverse gathering\, creating a deeper appreciation for his contributions to national unity.
